Day 61-Trick or Treat

Eight years ago today our son-in-law asked Rick's permission to marry our daughter Juliann.  Rick proceeded to forget most of the questions he was going to ask Brett and told him 'Yes' he could marry her as long as he would love her and take good care of her.  Their marriage has been a 'treat' and a blessing to our family adding three lovely grandchildren to the mix.  This evening we enjoyed trick or treating with our grandchildren in the Harvest Park neighborhood of Mapleton, Utah with many, many parents and their children.

After we returned to the house, Mae had an equal amount of fun anticipating the doorbell ringing and passing out the candy with Bapa.  Henry loved seeing everyone's costumes as they came to the door. Following a Hutchins' family tradition, Mae and Henry categorized and counted the candy they were kindly given.  Juliann even dressed up as a witch, which I use to do every Halloween because I had a black dress at home and a witch's hat was an easy accessory to find during October. Brett chuckled as he realized many of the moms were dressed up as witches.  I am sure on occasion we have all been one a time or two when it was not Halloween. Mostly, moms are like Samantha in Bewitched who do amazing things in a blink of an eye: cooking and serving a fabulous chicken tortilla soup, carving pumpkins, putting on and off costumes, wiping hands, sharing candy, and making the magic of Halloween marvelous!
