While learning a couple of weeks ago about all the hard work that goes into creating lovely floral arrangements, my friends Sydne and Hillary let me in on a little secret about new LED Light Strings that have 9 feet of green wire and are perfect for decorating plants, flowers, and currently my fall decor. With their encouragement and gift of a green foam wreath, I decided to create my own flower arrangement and buy the fun LED lights to add to it. I liked the little touches of light so much, I also added them to my fall decorations. Once you turn them on, they will stay on for six hours, and come on again at the same time the next day. I love it when I don't have to think about turning things on and off each day.
I purchased flowers from Costco and lights from Ace, and then went to work or, should I say, play for I had so much fun putting the flower arrangement together and getting ready for a wedding shower for one of our lovely gals getting married from our Young Single Adult ward. My daughter Juliann shared a recipe with me that she had received and liked from her friend Cami for a yummy chicken tortilla soup. The shower turned out very well, except for forgetting to put out the 2 pounds of cheddar cheese as one of the toppings for the soup for the 30 guests who came. The next evening, we were able to invite our dear friends Jim and Shirley Olsen over for leftover soup and we made sure the cheese was front and center.
This past week I am grateful for trying out a new way to do flowers with a new way to light them, and a new recipe to serve. With all the pictures I took during the evening and having people say "cheese", you would think I could have remembered the cheese!
