Day 323-Be Happy, Do Happy

I used to tell my own children that I just want them to be happy.  Having had more life experiences, I do not want them just to be happy, I want them to do happy.  I want them to seek after good things as it says in the Thirteenth Article of Faith: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things.  If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."  I desire them to actively seek for deeper, more meaningful things that will help them to develop more Christlike characteristics in their lives.  If they have character traits like honesty, integrity, work ethic, and compassion, then they will be able to give service, enjoy life, have fun, and be happy in any circumstance or challenge that comes their way.  It is not just about them. It is about loving and serving others.  To be happy, we have to do happy.  Family fun and togetherness is also important because when you get together you better be/do laughing, smiling, uplifting, supporting, and enjoying each other; otherwise, you won't want to be/do together.  Faith, charity, integrity, positive attitude, steadfastness, and family fun equals happiness to me.
