Week 46-Being Present for One Another by Being A Bruce

We are learning to be present:
to see the details of all our lives
with the people who matter most
when life stops short for another.

We recognize that sometimes
there are no words, nor deeds
that can lift another when
their loss is so great.  Only
God can do that, yet are we
not His hands here on Earth?

Although we can't possibly
understand their grief and pain,
nor empathize unless we too
have had the same loss,
we are present in the
background willing to
move mountains if only
we could for them. Always
they fill our every prayer
and thought.

Surrounded by Bruce's love in his
children's faces as their family
thinks upon every good memory
ever made, and tears fall freely
overwhelmed by how much
he has blessed their lives and
the lives of so many others:

his kindness, generosity,
smile, laughter, music,
art exist in the recesses of
all of our broken hearts as he
distills God's love in the
way he lived each day.

It's difficult to not let the
pain monopolize the joy;
yet joy is still present for
God is present in our deepest,
darkest nights and coldest days,
in the rainfall and in full sun.

God is present when we are
helping each other, listening to
His spirit and obeying His teachings,
trusting Him with all our hearts,
giving and receiving love, being
present in each other's lives even
when words cannot express the
amount of sorrow, nor love that
we desire to extend as our hands
and hearts reach out to touch theirs.
