Day 161-A Downpour

Rain criss-crosses
as the wind blows
first from the east, then
from the south drenching
the parched ground below:
An avalanche of water
running downhill
flooding the curbs as
it flows across the road
toward the drain.
The heavy storm
weakens turning to
showers, sprinkles,
and drizzle cleansing
and renewing the earth
as the sun peeks
behind the last
dark ominous cloud
and shines forth
a rainbow of splendor.

I am thankful for the needed rain this weekend that the ground gratefully soaked up in our drought-stricken state of California!
