While sitting outside in the cabana on this beautiful January day, my youngest three children and I had a discussion about hope and its meaning. We concluded that more than wishful thinking, hope is the quiet assurance that God's promises are real. Hope is based on a sure anchor, such as realizing that each of us is a child of God. Our circumstances may vary, but we are all loved by God and hold a sacred place in His eternal plan. I love Jeffrey R Holland's quote: "to see the good in yourself." If we do see the good in ourselves, we are able to see the good in others and life all around us, and do good which brings us even more hope.
