I am afraid I am too late tonight to create my own paragraph of words, though my mind is full of good thoughts after a great discussion at our young single adult women book club. (Lora and I feel just like 27, isn't that right? So glad we are invited to come.) It is hard to compete with C.S. Lewis so I won't even try, but I will quote from his book called The Great Divorce.
There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says in the end, "Thy will be done." All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.
I do not think that all who choose wrong roads perish; but their rescue consists in being put back on the right road. A sum can be put right: but only by going back till you find the error and working it afresh from that point, never by simply going on. Evil can be undone, but it cannot 'develop' into good. Time does not heal it. The spell must be unwound, bit by bit, 'with backward mutters of dissevering power'--or else not.
I was only going to peruse this book because of working on upcoming wedding plans, but ended up reading it with the exception of the last 13 pages just because I ran out of time. I am so glad I allowed myself time to read and come to be with these wonderful women whom I learn so much from. Thanks Lora for hosting and Whitney for choosing this thought-provoking book!
