Day 213-A Hushed Moment in April

A  hushed moment in April
bid the morning awake.
Still content in bed,
my ear presses the pillow
leaving the other to listen
for the whisperings of spring.

Gently the birds' songs spread
over the orchard of blossoms
as the dew distills onto green grass.
Lifting my head,
I brush the curtains aside
and catch the warm rays of sun.

Through the glass beyond
I see clearly against the blue sky
new blooms of spring
promising life in full flower,
new branches on trees
taking hold of every good thing.

Sitting up with unslippered feet
touching the cool wood floor,
I breathe in the delicate spring.
The breeze softly rustles the leaves.
The curtains flutter
as the door of the room opens. . .

The silence is broken
by waking children.
Spring fills my heart
as they race to my bed
giggling and vibrant
bidding a new day begin.
