Day 146-Parenting is Like Giving Life to a Balloon

Sometimes the balloon gets too big and complex as we blow air into it that we must let some air out.  Squeaky sounds escape as we release the tension.  When the balloon has just the right amount of oxygen, we tie the knot to keep the balloon filled with goodness and add ribbon for character and beauty.  Life appears in control and manageable. Sometimes we add a weight to the end of the pretty ribbon to keep the balloon from flying away from us. That weight may seem too heavy at times for the balloon and we lack the courage to dream, to share, to connect, and to show compassion.  Sometimes when the time is right, we decide to take the weight off and let the balloon soar with faith and hope. All of these stages of the balloon vary in length but are needed and good. There are times we must know when to not let go of the balloon and when to let go of the balloon.
